Sharing God’s Love. Serving People. Strengthening Communities.

Oxford Initiatives is a registered charity in England and Wales (No. 1213787) dedicated to putting God’s love into action. We partner with local leaders, organisations, and volunteers to support communities—both across the UK and internationally—where people face challenges, uncertainty, or lack of opportunity.

Through practical support, encouragement, and grass-roots initiatives, we help communities thrive, leaders grow, and individuals experience hope and transformation.

Equip and support local leaders with training, mentoring, and governance - Provide practical resources and funding pathways for community initiatives - Send UK volunteers to support projects worldwide, sharing skills and faith - Strengthen local networks so communities can flourish sustainably

What we Do

Anneliese Dodds MP mentioned the good work of The Jungle and the need for more organisations to provide‘Companionship and support for those trying to recover from addiction’ during a debate on addiction in the House of Commons. November 2025.

It was great to visit the jungle and find out about all their work supporting local people.

It’s clear that the jungle is a real hub for people of all ages and I want to pay tribute to everyone involved, from the staff to volunteers and of course also the artist Micah Hayns.

It was really good also to speak with some of those who have found companionship and connection at the jungle following some very difficult life experiences.

I hope the jungle can go from strength to strength in the future - many thanks to Templars Square for their support of it as well.

“I was truly impressed by the vibrant community spirit and powerful support network I witnessed at The Jungle in Cowley. The way that they bring the people together through their creative social and support groups, welcoming a diverse range of participants including people recovering from addiction, is a fantastic example of community-led solutions to local challenges.

These projects are playing a vital role in building trust and resilience right here in Oxford, which ultimately makes our streets safer and the community stronger. They are an inspiration, and their dedication deserves our full support.”
— Matthew Barber - Thames Valley Police - Police and Crime Commissioner
As well as being an incredibly ingenious, energetic and value-based group of volunteers and staff, they have created a model which is progressive, sustainable and in my view right at the heart of a new model for connecting people to each other and assets in their community.

I cannot speak highly enough of what I have seen. Their work has already made a positive, lasting difference to some of the most vulnerable residents of Cowley and their plans for the future are really exciting and will genuinely lead to a step change.
